Meet Our Board of Directors

 

Aman STEAM Academy’s Board is comprised of community members who share a commitment to policy governance and a specific committment to Aman’s vision and mission. Aman STEAM Academy is currently recruiting for new board members. Board terms are for three years and require a minimum of 6-8 hours of board and committee work each month. If you are a resident of Aurora and/or are interested in being part of growing non-profit organization, please forward your resume to Jim Haessler, Board President.

 

Board meetings are held the last Saturday of each month at 1:00 pm at CCA CentreTech Campus Administration Building (Room A207A). Parents and community members are welcome to attend the monthly meetings. If you would like to be placed on our Sunshine Law email list, please send your request to our Board President, Jim Haessler, at jim.haessler@amansteamacademy.org.

 

Jim Haessler, President

Jim Haessler is a financial and operations professional with eight years in education. He has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and a master’s from Kennedy-Western (Wyoming). Jim began working with college students in the Denver area and began to believe that he could better help students become college-prepared if he moved to the elementary/high school level. He frequently comments that this the most challenging and rewarding job he has ever had. In 2007, Jim joined the Edison Learning Educational Management Organization as the School Operations Manager for Omar D. Blair Charter School and Provost Academy Colorado. He also served in this capacity for several years with the Wyatt Edison Charter School. Prior to his transition into the educational sector, Jim worked in higher level information technology management.

Deborah Blair-Minter, Vice President

A veteran educator for more than forty years, working with children and teachers is part of Debbi's DNA. Mrs. Blair-Minter earned a Master's of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology from the University of Denver, formerly the Colorado Women's College. Debbi served children in the Denver Public Schools and Douglas County Schools as well as two district charter schools. Her educational background includes classroom teacher, instructional coordinator, assistant principal in every possible capacity, and a principal across all K-12 grades. Debbi enjoys time with her family and grandchildren. In her spare time, she volunteers in the community and follows the Denver Broncos.

Michael Maguire was born in Richmond, VA and grew up twenty miles south in Midlothian. After graduating from James Madison University with a degree in History and Finance, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in finance. Mike currently resides in Colorado, now working in sales. When not working, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring the outdoors, reading, playing games, and helping others.

Sheryl Ludwig, Director

Sheryl has over 50 years of teaching, researching, and teacher trainin experience in Colorado. She has a BA in English, History, and Political Science from the University of Michigan, and a MA in Education in Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado Boulder. Sheryl has taught high school English and social stuides, facilitated gifted and talented instruction, and oversaw the student teacher training program at Adams State College prior to her retirement in 2013.
